Prototype Z (Photos 1)
Real Aircraft Parts
January 19, 2002

These are various parts I've been able to obtain from actual aircraft. The first photo is
of my B757 Audio Control Panel and the in the last photo, the EVAC switches are both made
by Korry! All switches will be removed, refurbed, and reused. Yes, that MCP is from a
B777!!! It includes almost all necessary hardware exept the mounting frame.
3rd Photo: There is a lot of
important stuff in this photo which is kinda difficult to see. The white object leaning
against the box on the right side of the photo is a conjoint transponder selector from an
L-1011, and the box it's leaning against is full of Korry, Eaton and Jayel square
pushbuttons! The plastic case near the top is full of knobs from all over the aircraft,
and the slightly obscured blue panel above it is a nav selector from a B747 sitting next
to a converted EVAC panel.

Left: The two boards on stand-offs are Go Flight GF-P8 and GF-T8 boards which work VERY
well with the sim. The two boards at the bottom of the photo are from a Bendix king radio
stack and each have two infinite-click rotaries which don't need to be decoded! Right:
An Eaton MCP switch next to a Grayhill dual-concentric rotary w/pushbutton at
top.

A 5-Piece Altec Lansing speaker system is used for the main aircraft audio system. This
subwoofer is VERY powerful (and clear) and emulates engine rumble quite well. It is placed
directly underneath the EICAS display and points directly at the Center pedestal so that
the entire sim vibrates when engine power is moderate. The upper EICAS is a KDS 15"
LCD monitor which works great and has proven a necessity (for space purposes).

A few attempts at showing off my sim at night
running Project Magenta and Pro MFD side by side. In
the second photo you can slightly make out the floor lighting from the center pedestal
(bottom right of photo) if you look real close... It's much brighter in person. My
stand-by instruments were off center, but that will be corrected soon.

Left: The 777 MCP in all her
beautiful green glory. Center: An ADI panel from a B767 with selector
knobs in place. Right: The right knob was removed so you can see how the
light flows through the faceplate up through the bottom of the knob (which is clear) to
illuminate it.
