Sector Pro

It's been almost 3 years of development (and 12,000+ lines of code <g>)... Getting close!

Sector Pro is an application which automates the process of creating sector files for Pro Controller (real time ATC simulator). Although sectors files can be created with any text editor, Sector Pro offers the following advantages:

  • Automated file spacing
  • Station sorting
  • CAD type graphical interface
  • Sector statistic page counts stations of individual type
  • Full information validation makes sure that all information is correct
  • Data recovery system restores data after a system crash or freeze
  • Duplicate station finder
  • Import stations automatically from Airnav.com (not yet implemented)
  • Customizeable printing

Features in production

  • Flight Sim Path recorder - Generates GEO data as you fly
  • Shape maker - Allows you to make squares, triangles, graphical runways, etc. with just a few pieces of information
  • Internet Waypoint Import - Downloads and imports data from Airnav.com into your sector file automatically

The following features are available for generating GEO data:

  • Freehand drawing system allows you to sketch GEOs with a lightpen or mouse
  • Full layer controls
  • Intelligent layer system creates layers out of "old" GEOs sections (based on comments)
  • Color Picker generates color codes automatically based color wheel selection
  • Polar and rectangular coordinate systems based on Lat and Lon positioning
  • Program records aircraft motion within MSFS (via FSUIPC) to generate geographical data - (near future addition)
  • If Sector Pro (or your computer) crashes while you are working on a Sector File, much of the data will be automatically restored the next time you open Sector Pro (everytime you click OK backups are made).

This is a beta, so there are some things that are incomplete. If a button is clicked and nothing happens, that means it hasn't been implemented yet :) Or if a button is grayed out, it has been implemented, but most likely has errors.

Known Bugs

  • This program DOES NOT like comments except at the top of the file, in the GEO section, or at the end of station lines
  • The geo screen imports, but does not yet display graphics
  • The sector report misreports the number of SID,STAR,Victors, and Jet Airways and misses others by 1 at times
  • The GEO screen has lots of work to be done <g>
  • Screens tend to loose data or mix fields when there is only 1 station. Add a second one and this problem will go away for now.

Updates in Beta 1.3

  • STAR, SID, Victor Airway, and Jet Airway screens now working properly
  • Layer control enhanced on GEO screen (though still buggy)
  • Airport screen is now fully functional

Beta 1.2

Beta 1.2 has a couple of major enhancements which include the following:

  • "New Airport" feature now operable

  • Layer Control now functional (currentl only works with existing sector files)

  • Fatal errors removed from GEO, STAR, SID, and Airway screens

  • Airport names on the runway screen now work

Skeleton (non-operable) interfaces added for the following new features:

  • ShapeMaker (Creates circles, runways, arcs, and rectangles)

  • Flight Sim Tracks (Generates GEO data as you fly in MSFS)

  • Visual reference control allows you to display VORs, airports, etc as references on the GEO screen

P.S. - Please let me know what you think of Sector Pro and what you would like to see added. I stopped development for many months because I thought no one was using it, that's when my inbox started over flowing :-) In other words, let me know that this software is being put to good use, or else I may loose interest and stop developing <g>...

Freeware rocks!
